More 1 Nephi 16
In reading the Book of Mormon again, I am again struck by 1 Nephi 16. Among other things, I note that it is only after Lehi has fulfilled all of the commandments given him (after they have spent some time in the valley of Lemuel in tents, got the plates and got the kids married) that the Lord again tells Lehi to move on toward the promised land. No progress toward the next level until all of the conditions given for the present level have been completed.
